Andy's diet
Andy is a happy little boy. He likes to eat.
He always dreams of different kinds of food.
Andy eats four meals a day.
Breakfast: a large glass of milk, two fried eggs, lots of bread, two bananas.
Lunch: a big bowl of noodles with fish balls, two chocolate cakes
Teatime: two chicken wings, a big hamburger, a bag of crisps
Dinner: two bowls of rice with lots of meat, two bowls of soup, a large bar of chocolate
Andy likes to read storybooks.
But he does not like to exercise.
The other children run much faster than Andy.
Andy always comes last.
Andy wants to be fast.
He wants to be good at sport like the other children.
Mum tells Andy to eat a healthy diet.
You must eat less chocolate and crisps, Andy.
But Andy decides to eat only a little food every day.
He does not want any meat. Mum begins to worry.
Andy, you should eat some meat!
No, Mum! I don't like meat any more.
Andy becomes thinner.
But he is tired all the time and he still cannot run fast.
Andy even falls asleep in class!
When he is asleep, he dreams of food.
He dreams of ice cream and chocolate, cakes and pies, hamburgers and chicken wings ...
Andy goes to Mum for help.
Mum, I'm thinner, but I'm tired and hungry all the time … and I can't run.
What should I do?
Andy, you're just a little boy.
Your body needs lots of energy.
You mustn't eat too much, but you mustn't eat too little.
You should eat healthy meals.
Andy and Mum make a plan.
Together they write down some healthy meals.
This is Andy's plan.
Breakfast: a glass of milk, a fried egg, some bread
Lunch: a bowl of noodles with fish balls, some fruit salad
Teatime: an apple
Dinner: a bowl of rice with some meat and fish, plenty of vegetables, a bowl of soup
Andy still eats four meals a day, but the meals are healthier.
He does not eat too little, but he does not eat too much.
Soon Andy becomes fitter.
He is not too thin, and he is not too fat!
In fact, he is just the right size for a healthy little boy.
Andy does not feel tired any more.
He does not fall asleep in class and he does not dream of food.
Now Andy enjoys doing sport.
Andy runs fast too.
He is not the fastest ... but he never comes last!
Mum, I'm fit and healthy now. Thanks!
