Still Waiting

Spent a lifetime trying to forgive,

For the choices she’s made, for the state that I’m in,

But a lifetime goes slowly when it has no end,

But I can see now that’s wrong, from the side of her bed.

She smiles softly, and I smile back,

But thinking of you, it starts to crack.

And with a tear, that I hope is misread,

I take my leave from the side of her bed.

It’s time to lower the sun.
