Ben's big catch
By Vanessa Davies
It is Saturday evening.
Dad wants to take Ben and Betty fishing.
Let's go fishing tomorrow.
Great idea, Dad! I love fish!
The next morning, Betty gets up early.
Wake up, Ben. We're ready to go.
I hate fishing!
Dad drives the family to a river.
He stops the car near the river.
Hooray! Hooray! We're fishing today!
Dad, I want to catch a fish!
Put the worm on the hook, Betty.
Then cast your fishing rod. Look at me!
Now keep quiet.
Don't make any noise.
Don't scare the fish.
Boring!
They sit and wait.
The children get thirsty.
Dad goes to the car to bring some water.
Ben, look!
What is it? A big fish?
Yes, I can feel something heavy.
Ben, pull the fish out of the water.
I can't. It's big and heavy.
But then Ben slips and falls into the river.
Oh no! Dad, Dad, Ben is in the water!
The river is not deep, but Ben is scared.
Mum, Dad! Help! The big fish is after me!
Dad is back. He goes in the water and pulls Ben out.
Ben, don't worry! It's just an old bag … and a fish!
