(背景：1209年，为镇压与正统基督不同信仰的清洁派教徒，教皇发起战争，史称阿尔比十字军。
对清洁派教徒的迫害导致许多人逃往为数不多的清洁派教徒控制的城堡。
最后一个抵抗的城堡被攻破
其中最有名的就是比利牛斯的蒙塞古（Montségur），一座位于悬崖顶端、据说固若金汤的堡垒。
在长达10个月的围困中，这一小股守军从未有过机会
对它的围困从1243年1月开始，到1244年2月最终投降，
兵力不足、饥饿、严寒，让他们投降显得易如反掌
