Just a young punk with a 100 bucks in my pocket,

Had plans to come to LB and rocket,

Our jobs pay minimum wage,

thinking to myself theres got to be a better way,

Grab my pen and pad and begin to write,

Hone my skills and try to make em tight,

Strap myself in for the bumpy flight,

But my flame of fame yo it wouldn't ignite,

They just didn't take me serious

because I was to damn white,

So I switched it up and joined a rock band,

Same Big B just had a few more fans,

It's true things never work out

the way you want them to,

Cu'z in a few years that band was through,

It broke my pride,

I keep smiling but I hurt inside,

I had to go back to a 9 to 5,

Had to hustle late night just to get by,

Drunk by day criminal by night,

The end of my problems just wasn't in sight,

Me and my girl had a second

kid one the way but i was one step away

from not having any place to stay,

So i took the risk and did it big,

Told god if this worked it would be my last gig,

Next morning on the couch counting

my cash thinking my freedom could have

went so fast,

I took a gasp and new i needed to

get my **** together,

As luck would have it or maybe its fate,

To get another chance i wouldn't

have long to wait,

Got a call from a friend,

Next thing you know I;m doing songs

in the studio with OPM,

Yea we did a few albums

and i put a few bucks in my hand,

And even though it didn't work out

the way i thought it would,

I got no regrets its all good,

For the first time in my life

I understand what it is to be a man,

If you want something you can chase it,

its your life you can live it or waste it,

I might not have got a full plate,

but at least i got to taste it,

Not to many people will get the chance

to do what i've done or see what i've seen,

I got to see the other side,

and i got to live my dream,
