The Closer I Get

My gut tells me something I won't tell the others

They won't understand me, I'm not showing colors

But I will show them you

You spin me in circles

You ruffle my feathers

Change my directions

I'm off to better weather

I will see you soon

Darling your heart beats faster and faster the closer I get to you

My past will show this feeling won't last her more than a day or two

But you, I will get you

I will get you

There's something inside me, I feel the commotion

She's got reservations but I've got the notion

That she feels the way I do

And probably to some degree I've got some qualities

That you don't like, and you just might have a few that bother me

But that's what I love about you

Darling your heart beats faster and faster the closer I get to you

My past will show this feeling won't last her more than a day or two

But you, I will get you

I will get you

So darling don't worry or feel insufficient

We must have a reason we trust our decisions

To love and fear

To trust and deal with anything and everything

Darling your heart beats faster and faster the closer I get to you

And my past will show this feeling won't last her more than a day or two

But you
