To feel the grass between my toes

But what kind of floors we had who knows

Or the color of the roof over our heads

Mom and dad had bills to pay,

Oh what for I couldn’t say

Or how ever in the world they got us to bed

But I know the trees grow tall

And the moss grows soft

And mama’s roses come back every year

Tastin’ berries by the ditch

Thinkin we were rich

When daddy wired up that Sears chandelier

When I smell rain on hot concrete

I think about home

That’s what I remember most

Running through Sprinklers in the yard

Never outrunning that train n

Puttin pennies on the rails everyday at noon

Vhs in a vcr, picking that pawn shop guitar

sneaking beers in a ol’ makebelieve saloon

And I know the trees grow tall

And the moss grows soft

And mama’s roses come back every year

Thinkin we were rich

When we got a BRAND-new-used Chevrolet cavalier

When I smell rain on hot concrete

I think about home
