Silver Lining

Once upon a time

I was safe and flying high above the land

But then a storm rolled in

Ripped my wings and threw my dreams upon the sand

Oh I was bruised and beat

And I fell a thousand feet

And I cursed the sky because I didn't know

That sometimes rain is good

And it comes down like it should

And it makes the thirsty trees and flowers grow

There's a little good in everything when anything goes wrong

There was a silver lining all along

Once I was a king

There was nothing that I needed, not a thing

But then the soldiers fled

When the kingdom fell, the crown fell off my head

Sometimes things go wrong

And the road's a little long

And the rivers that we cross are far too wide

Sometimes change is good

Though we never thought we could

And there's something better on the other side

But sometimes people go

So we have to say goodbye and set them free

Sometimes people die, some way before their time

And they leave us wondering and asking why

Sometimes tears will fall, but it's not the end at all

Because nothing ever really dies
