You Tried

I was waiting for an answer but I lost my nerve,

Slipped into the darkening horizon’s curve,

Is there anything that can erase the way things were?

I know you tried.

Surrendered in the cosmos,

Confessing to the rain,

From the bottom of the ocean where there’s no place left to sink.

Reaching through the heavens,

Tearing up the sky,

Talking circles in the future like you thought we couldn’t die,

When it's hard enough

Just staying alive,

Whatever way you spin it,

I’ve looked, I swear, I just can’t see the beauty in it.

I’ve looked, I swear, I just can’t see it.
