Disappeared

I was once and individual

Sharp and angular

You could see me from a distance

I've learned as I've gone

Picked up life as I went along

Now I'm, well-rounded but I've disappeared

Somewhere between knowledge

Failure and success

I got everything off my chest

And I disappeared

It's only people who decide to love you

That want you to be soft

Calm and patient

Unsafe and available

Guard down and vulnerable but

Who could want a vulnerable man?

Someone out to claim him

Tame until they maim him

It's easier to love him

If you can swallow him whole

Watch me disappearing down the middle of the road

Nothing, to catch me in the cracks

In the cracks lie love's adventure

In the fissures await the gold

I'm in charge of everything

At least that's what I'm told

Everything to everybody

And not true to a single one

Once or twice to you

In a sentence never spoken

Or buried in a poem

Hidden in a piano, of sanded wood

This pen is my confessor

I'll burn it out here on this page

Let the paper soak with rage

While I fade away

Watch me disappearing down the middle of the road

Nothing, to catch me in the cracks

In the cracks lie love's adventure

In the fissures await the gold

I'm in charge of everything

At least that's what I'm told

I am... now

Invisible and uncertain

Engaged by all my fears

I am... now

Indivisible from the curtains

I am the disappeared.
