Most people enjoy working for several reasons
许多人享受工作有以下几个原因:

or they like their employer and the other people at work.

Most people I know, however, work for the money.

I do not know anyone who is "loaded"

-- or extremely rich.

Most of my friends work to earn enough money to live.
我的朋友们大多是为了挣足够生活的钱才去工作
They have to "make ends meet"
他们不得不"make ends meet"(入能敷出)
-- they have to earn enough money
他们必须挣到足够的钱
to pay for the things they need.
才能买到他们想要的东西
Some even live "from hand to mouth"
有些人则过着"from hand to mouth"(勉强糊口)的生活
-- they only have enough money for the most important things.
他们的钱只够花在买最重要的东西身上
They struggle to earn enough money to "bring home the bacon"
他们努力挣钱,只为了"bring home bacon"(养家糊口)
-- it can be difficult to earn enough money for a family to survive.
挣钱养家真不是件容易事
Sometimes, poor people even "get caught short"
穷人家会遇上"get caught short"(手头紧)的时候
-- they do not have enough money to pay for what they need.
他们没有钱买他们急需的物品
Or they have to spend or "lay out"
更没有闲钱花在(lay out)
more money than they want for something.

When this happens,

poor people have to "tighten their belts"

and live on less money than usual.

I hate when I have to live on less money.

In fact, they make so much money

-- they own the best of everything and live in great ease.

Sometimes they "pay an arm and a leg" for something.
有时他们"pay an arm and a leg"(不惜一切代价)也要得到某物
Because "money is no object" to wealthy people,
因为对有钱人来说,"money is no object"(金钱如粪土)
they will pay high prices for whatever they want.

Sometimes, they even "pay through the nose"

-- they pay too much for things.

I am not rich.

I did not "make a killing" in the stock market

Yes, it was a "buy-off"

for a table instead of making us wait like everyone else.

We had a great time that night
那晚我们玩得很开心
and the meal did not "set me back" at all
那顿大餐也根本没有"set me back"
-- I did not have to pay anything.

Because of that experience,
有了这次经历
I will always remember that nice things still happen
我知道了这世上总是能尝到甜头的
in a world that is "driven by money."
只要"driven by money"(有钱能使鬼推磨)
But, that is "just my two cents worth"
但是,这只是"just two cents worth"
