Truth Be Told

There's nothing good within me

If I'm honest.

If I am honest,

There are times

I will try

To dress up all my darkness

And make it seem like

It was light all along,

But it's a lie.

Truth be told, I'm nothing

On my own.

The only thing I know for sure

Is that I don't

Know anything

To be sure.

If you only knew what I've been prone to do,

You'd run far and fast away

From me.

Hear my plea 'cause

All I see is

This darkness that is buried

Within me.

So darling, don't dare trust me

I'm okay.

If truth be told I do the things

That I hate,

So, if ever

I may think myself to be more than a wretched man,

Forgive me,

Please don't let me

Ruin myself once again with these chains that I cannot sever.

It takes just to make sure my head stays above

This water that is filling

My lungs.

If only

I could do the

I'd leave this place forever,
