BRICE NOBES: (spoken)
There's this girl I really like, but our first date was disastrous.
I mean, horrific. It was...
Catastrophic. But I should text her, right?
MAN: (spoken)
I'm not your father
BRICE: (spoken)
I already texted my father. Here's what he said
MAN: (spoken)
"A word of advice, Brice"?
BRICE: (spoken)
Yeah
"Don't go getting your hopes up
They will be dashed, your dreams will be smashed up
Best avoid disappointment
Hope is a rash, pessimism's the ointment."
BRICE: (spoken)
Typical dad, always looking out for me. Ever since I was little,
He'd sit me on his knee and he'd say
"Son, never try, and you can't fail.
Never ask and they can't say no. And when in doubt, pull your head in"
BRICE & MAN:
Don't go getting your hopes up
They will be dashed, your dreams will be smashed up
Best avoid complications
No good ever came from great expectations
Woah
BRICE & MAN:
Never stick your neck out
Never stick your neck out
Remember
Never stick your neck out
Never stick your neck out
So that's how I lived my life
If I start to feel too brave
Or think that I might take a chance
Take a leap, go my own way
I hear my father's voice
And he'd say, he'd say
BRICE, MAN & MALE COMPANY:
Don't go getting your hopes up
They will be dashed, your dreams will be smashed up
Best avoid disappointment
Hope is a rash, pessimism's the ointment
Woah
Never stick your neck out
Never stick your neck out
Remember
Never stick your neck out
Never stick your neck out
MALE COMPANY:
Woah oh oh oh
Woah oh oh oh oh
All this time thought I was fine
Floating on a gentle sea
Then a girl named Mariel
Came along and capsized me
MALE COMPANY:
Woah
Now I'm riding on a wave
I've never felt so alive
Or free
Or free
MAN: (spoken)
Text her!
BRICE: (spoken)
You think?
MAN: (spoken)
Send that text!
I'm gonna stick my neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
MALE COMPANY:
He's free
I'm gonna stick my neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
MALE COMPANY:
Don't go getting your hopes up
He's gonna stick his neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
MALE COMPANY:
Don't go getting your hopes up
He's free
I'm gonna stick my neck out
I'm gonna stick my neck out
Stick my neck out
MALE COMPANY:
Don't go getting your hopes up
He's gonna stick his neck out
