I ain’t made the mistakes that you made in your life

And I ain’t heard no one cry like you have

And I ain’t rested my head on the street for the night

that don’t mean that I chose the right path….

You got the dogs on you trail the night through

It’s raining hammers and nails around you

Still, you stand there and glare with a stare so cool

“Back the **** up, and run away, fool!”

But you don’t know all the scars that I hold

The hearts I’ve broken

walking this long, lonesome road….

I ain’t made the mistakes that you made in your life

And I ain’t heard no one cry like you have

And I ain’t rested my head on the street for the night

but that don’t mean that I chose the right path….

So there’s a woman back west who’s in pain

She’s got a child at her breast with your name

She broke a wrist. You got arrested.

Christ, It all sounds the same!

But you’ll be damned if they’re gonna see you again…

‘Cause they don’t know all the monsters you know

They force you open, then holler, “Schut down the show!”

I ain’t made the mistakes that you made in your life

You got the shakes?

Yeah, I know what they do

I know that sad, panicked scratching there, too

I’ve lost so much of myself, that I’m a stranger like you.

I breathe it in. I breathe it out.

I make it through.

A hearts get’s broken
